azalea dialogues
azalea dialogues engages with the memories, histories, and lives of those woven into the Korean diaspora, scattered across continents and seas. These are the narratives and myths of individuals and communities formed and informed by colonisation, occupation, war, prayer, and immigration. azalea dialogues is an attempt to imagine a more globalised diaspora, beyond the reference points of Korea, America, and Japan. It includes translations and new poems, thinking through myths and wars, prayers and adoptions, hallyu and visual art. It is a project in documentary, palimpsest, and persona that reimagines diaspora beyond location. Voices and nature merge into a chimera of language, hope, violence, and resurrection that challenges traditional notions of narrative and silence, forming a new sounding of time.
